Gold Fields Migrates SAP Workloads to Amazon Web Services for Digital Transformation
On August 29, 2024, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced that Gold Fields, a global gold producer, has migrated its SAP workloads to AWS as part of its digital transformation. This move allows Gold Fields to modernize its technology infrastructure and apply AWS's analytics, machine learning, and artificial intelligence capabilities to improve operational efficiency, enhance workplace safety, and become a more data-driven business. The migration, which involved over 40 SAP systems across three continents, was facilitated by Deloitte Consulting. The shift to AWS has reduced operational costs and enhanced data processing speeds for Gold Fields, enabling the company to forecast precious metal demands, production, pricing, and supplies. Gold Fields also plans to adopt AWS's Industrial Data Fabric to develop a data management system for predictive maintenance and safety measures.
