Amazon Web Services Launches AWS Parallel Computing Service for High-Performance Computing

August 28, 2024
Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced on August 28, 2024, the general availability of AWS Parallel Computing Service. This new managed service helps customers set up and manage high-performance computing (HPC) clusters, enabling them to run scientific and engineering workloads at virtually any scale on AWS. The service simplifies the process of building clusters using Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (Amazon EC2) instances, low-latency networking, and storage optimized for HPC workloads. AWS Parallel Computing Service accelerates innovation in areas such as drug discovery, genomic insights, engineering designs, weather applications, and scientific and engineering models. The service uses Slurm, a popular open-source HPC workload manager, and is designed to significantly reduce the operational burden of managing a cluster.
