Axiata Group Berhad Chooses AWS as Primary Cloud Provider for Digital Transformation in Asia, Aiming for Complete Migration by End of 2024
At AWS re:Invent in Las Vegas, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced that Axiata Group Berhad, a leading Asian telecommunications and digital group based in Malaysia, has chosen AWS as its primary cloud provider to accelerate its digital transformation. Axiata plans to migrate over 650 mission-critical applications, including customer service, enterprise resource planning, and human resources, as well as 80 machine learning applications to AWS by the end of 2024. This move aims to enhance service for Axiata's 174 million customers across Southeast Asia and South Asia. Axiata will utilize AWS's data analytics, generative artificial intelligence, and machine learning technologies to make data-driven business decisions, tailor offerings, and develop new services in telecommunications, banking, and payments. Additionally, Axiata's operating companies will leverage AWS's security features to ensure high levels of security and privacy. Axiata is also experimenting with generative AI applications using Amazon Bedrock and optimizing business processes with Amazon SageMaker. For instance, Dialog Axiata in Sri Lanka has created an internal AI factory system for analytics and machine learning, while XL Axiata in Indonesia has significantly increased its service availability and user engagement through AWS. Axiata and AWS are collaborating on the Axonect product suite to provide flexible, scalable, and user-friendly solutions for digital transformation.
