Echelon Data Centres has received a grid connection from EirGrid Group for its DUB20 data centre in Co Wicklow, Ireland, ensuring an investment of €3.5 billion and the creation of 1,300 jobs. This milestone allows work to begin on a 220kV substation at DUB20, which will provide access to the grid for future renewable energy generated off the coast of Wicklow. Echelon's Head of Energy Systems, Cormac Nevin, stated that this decision is a strong statement that Ireland is open for business to the data centre sector and the jobs and inward investment that comes with it.
