On June 27, 2024, Gulf Edge, a subsidiary of Gulf Energy Development, and Google Cloud announced a multi-year partnership to provide next-generation sovereign cloud services in Thailand. The partnership aims to help organizations in critical industries such as healthcare, public safety, energy, and utilities to accelerate their digital transformations with AI and analytics capabilities, while ensuring data, operational, and software sovereignty. Gulf Edge will operate Google Distributed Cloud (GDC) as a Managed GDC Provider (MGP), focusing on air-gapped configurations for organizations in Thailand. This ensures that data, operations, and software remain entirely under the customer's control and within Thailand’s borders, adhering to all legal and sovereignty frameworks, including the Personal Data Protection Act.
