On September 16, 2024, Intel Corp. and Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced a multi-year, multi-billion-dollar collaboration for the development of custom chip designs. As part of this expanded collaboration, Intel will produce an AI fabric chip for AWS on Intel 18A, its most advanced process node, and a custom Xeon 6 chip on Intel 3. This partnership aims to accelerate the performance of AI applications and support the growth of both businesses. AWS plans to invest $7.8 billion to expand its data center operations in Central Ohio, adding to its $10.3 billion investment in the state since 2015. The collaboration is expected to boost U.S.-based semiconductor manufacturing and create a vibrant AI ecosystem in Ohio.
