Oracle to Open Public Cloud Region in Nairobi, Kenya to Support Economic Goals and Digital Transformation

Oracle is set to expand its Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) services in Africa by opening a new public cloud region in Nairobi, Kenya. This development was announced following a meeting between Oracle executives, including Scott Twaddle, Senior Vice President for OCI Product and Industries, and Kenyan officials, President William Ruto and Eliud Owalo, Cabinet Secretary of the Ministry of Information, Communications, and the Digital Economy. The Nairobi cloud region aims to support Kenya's economic goals and digital transformation by leveraging the country's renewable energy resources and digital infrastructure. This initiative is part of Oracle's commitment to Africa, complementing the existing Oracle Cloud Johannesburg Region in South Africa. Oracle's expansion in Kenya is aligned with the country's Bottom up Economic Transformation Agenda, focusing on digital transformation and modernization across various sectors. The Nairobi cloud region will offer Oracle's full suite of over 100 hyperscale cloud services, aiding the Kenyan government and private sector in enhancing business operations and innovation.
