OVHcloud Launches First Local Zones in Spain and Belgium

February 7, 2024
On February 7th, 2024, OVHcloud, the European Cloud leader, announced the opening of its first two public cloud 'Local Zones' in Madrid, Spain, and Brussels, Belgium. These openings mark the beginning of an ambitious expansion, leveraging technology from gridscale, OVHcloud's recent acquisition, to deploy cloud capacity rapidly across new international locations. The Local Zones aim to offer customers low latency and local data residency for Public Cloud services, with a roadmap to open up to 150 Local Zones by 2026. In 2024 alone, OVHcloud plans to launch up to 15 Local Zones in various cities including Prague, Marseille, Milan, Amsterdam, Zurich, Atlanta, Denver, Chicago, Dallas, New York City, and San José. These zones, which are more agile and less capital intensive than traditional data centers, are designed to meet the growing global demand for cloud services, offering benefits like improved latency for latency-sensitive services and compliance with local data regulations. The new Local Zones in Spain and Belgium are also ISO/IEC 27001 certified, ensuring high security standards for businesses deploying services in an OVHcloud environment. Customers can now deploy their Public Cloud services directly from the OVHcloud customer interface in these beta-phase Local Zones. OVHcloud operates over 450,000 servers across 40 data centers worldwide, serving 1.6 million customers in more than 140 countries.
