ST Telemedia Global Data Centres (STT GDC), a rapidly growing data centre provider, announced the groundbreaking of its second data centre facility, STT Tokyo 2, in Tokyo, Japan on April 12, 2024. The construction is underway and the facility is expected to be operational by early 2027. The new data centre is part of STT GDC's campus in Goodman Business Park, Inzai City, which will support up to 70 megawatts of IT capacity. STT Tokyo 2 is projected to support up to 38 megawatts upon completion. This expansion is in line with STT GDC's commitment to growing its regional data centre footprint, particularly in Asia's major developing and emerging markets. The move comes as the size of the Artificial Intelligence market in Japan is expected to reach $12.42 billion in 2024.
