STACK Infrastructure Implements Advanced Biofuel for New Data Center in Oslo, Expands Nordic Footprint

October 9, 2024
STACK Infrastructure, a leading global developer and operator of data centers, announced on October 15, 2024, that it has successfully implemented the use of the advanced biofuel HVO100 as a standby power source for a new data center in Holtskogen, Oslo, Norway. This move aligns with STACK's commitment to reducing its Scope 1 emissions. HVO100, made from vegetable oil or used cooking oil, produces fewer emissions than regular fuel. Research indicates that 1,000 liters of HVO releases 195 kg of carbon dioxide, compared to 3,600 kg for the same amount of regular diesel. In addition to this facility, two more STACK data centers became operational in Oslo this year, increasing STACK's footprint in Norway by another 18MW. STACK's expansion in the Nordics also includes a 72MW campus under development in Copenhagen and an 18MW campus under development in Stockholm.
