TVNZ Adopts AWS Clean Rooms for Personalized Advertising in New Zealand, November 2023
On November 29, 2023, in Auckland, New Zealand, Amazon Web Services (AWS) announced at AWS re:Invent that Television New Zealand (TVNZ) has become the first media company in Aotearoa to adopt AWS Clean Rooms. This analytics service is designed to enhance the way TVNZ manages advertising by allowing secure collaboration and analysis of combined customer datasets without sharing the underlying data. With 71% of global media and entertainment consumers expecting personalized interactions, TVNZ utilizes AWS Clean Rooms to protect viewer privacy while analyzing anonymized data, such as viewership metrics and preferences, with advertising partners like McDonald’s and media company OMD. This collaboration generates insights to improve advertising strategies and personalize viewer experiences. Additionally, TVNZ employs Amazon Personalize to offer content recommendations based on individual viewing behaviors, further personalizing the viewer experience. The implementation of AWS Clean Rooms was facilitated by AWS Advanced Consulting Partner Slalom within six weeks, enabling secure and cost-effective personalized content delivery in compliance with strict data governance and privacy policies.
