VIRTUS Data Centres, part of the ST Telemedia Global Data Centres Group, has announced plans for a new data centre campus in Saunderton, Buckinghamshire, near London, on February 19, 2024. The campus, which is set to be built on a recently acquired 50-acre plot, will consist of four data centres capable of delivering IT capacity of 75MW. This initiative is in response to the growing needs of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and the increasing demand for robust data infrastructure. Construction is set to begin in Q4 2024, with the facility expected to be operational by Q2 2026. The campus will feature 100% renewable energy and aims to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Gold accreditation for sustainability. The development will also create skilled jobs and offer training opportunities to the local community.
