Microsoft Expands EU Data Boundary for the Microsoft Cloud to Include All Personal Data

January 11, 2024
Microsoft is enhancing its EU Data Boundary for the Microsoft Cloud, expanding its trusted cloud services to meet the specific needs of commercial and public sector customers in Europe. As part of this initiative, Microsoft is expanding local storage and processing to include all personal data, such as automated system logs. This makes Microsoft the first large-scale cloud provider to offer this level of data residency to European customers. The company is also providing new transparency resources and has invested in EU-based technology to further protect personal data when accessed remotely for system monitoring. Later this year, Microsoft will launch the next phase of its EU Data Boundary by transforming the processing and storage capabilities for data required during technical support interactions, ensuring that support data is stored within the boundary.
